Tomorrow is April 1. Many of you will be pulling practical jokes on friends, co-workers, or loved ones. We, however, will be at Walter Reed for the better part of the day.
When I scheduled Olivia's pre-op appointment, the date that was set was April 1. When Dr. Todd confirmed the schedule I asked him not to play any April Fool's jokes on us, since it'll be a stressful day for us. I really don't think he would have, nor do I think he was plotting against us on February 26! For whatever reason, I made the comment, if only to lighten the situation for me.
We need to be at the hospital tomorrow morning at 7:30 a.m. to check in for her first appointment, scheduled at 7:45. I expect that Olivia will have x-rays again, to determine if she is actually a candidate for surgery on both hips, or just one. Either way, she'll be in a full-body cast for several weeks. She will also require a different wheelchair to use while she's in her cast. The insurance will cover this "loaner" and we will get it when she is ready for discharge.
