Have you ever put a puzzle together? Ever done it with someone giving you one piece at a time? That's how I feel right about now. We have the date for Olivia's surgery - Monday, October 3 but we only know that she's the third case.
We are trying to juggle schedules, caregivers for Jack & Robin, who will stay in the room with Olivia, how Avery will fit into all of that. Just about the only thing we know for sure is that our goats will be taken care of. I am certainly trusting that God will help us sort out the details, but for now, there are many that we haven't even addressed.
One thing we did look into is lodging. We are on the list for the Fisher House on the base at Bethesda. It would be terribly convenient to be there, but we won't find out until practically the last minute. So we looked into plan B -- A room at the Navy Lodge, also on the base there. Unfortunately there is no room at the Inn. (HA! Can you tell I'm getting ready for Christmas?) The option of staying at a local hotel doesn't seem feasible, at the rate of $225 per night. I haven't talked to my sister, Kelly, about staying at her place, as she'll be out of the country, but I think I'd better make that phone call. We may look at staying at Andrews AFB, Ft. Meade or Ft. Belvoir... Thankfully there are options, but it sure would be nice to have that detail worked out.
We also have 2 dogs that need a plan. That's all I'm going to say about that.
God will provide. I believe that.
We're not sure if we're going up the night before, or the day of the surgery. It will depend on what time Liv needs to be there. If she doesn't have to be there until 9 or 10, we'll likely stay at home. We should find that time out when we go to the pre-op appointment on Sept. 27.
As I get things lined up, I'm going to make a google spreadsheet to keep track of it, so it can be accessed by everyone who is involved. As a side note, I really hope we have access to post to this blog while Liv's in the hospital. It was a really good way for me to focus on something besides the clock ticking.
Until my next puzzle piece arrives...
