Today (Friday)was a wonderfully peaceful day. Olivia was up in her chair to go to x-ray and took a nap in there which totaled about 3 hours. She was in her chair again in the afternoon for an addtional 30 minutes or so while the PT made some adjustments and recommendations for her seating.
She has not needed any morphine since we left the PICU, which is a very good sign that the oxycodone/tylenol/valium regimen is going to work when we take her home.
The only thing left to ensure is that she tolerates eating. She has been on continuous feeds through the pump and we've not seen any problems.
Ortho said we could go home Saturday or we could stay until Sunday if we would prefer the extra day. I believe we'll opt for Saturday, if she is truly ready to go home.
The take-home meds were ordered for us and delivered to the hospital, so we don't even have to take the time to stop at the pharmacy on our way home. She will be glad to get home and in to her own bed without delay.
We pretty much have a full discharge plan a day ahead of the projected release. Now it is a matter of crossing the T's and dotting the I's.
