Olivia's first follow-up is on Monday. She has done remarkably well. We went to church last Sunday, and many people were surprised to see her there. I honestly believe we needed to go, because God is good, and it's important that people see that prayers are answered.
Only one of the incision sites has the butterfly closure left on it. The other leg's bandage was falling off, so Dave took them off. Also the bandages came off of the groin area, which the doctor said was fine for them to be exposed to the air. Thankfully there are no signs of infection there, which was a concern for us, but the surgeon took extra precautions and covered it well.
We made a trip to DC Thursday night for an appointment with a neurosurgeon at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda. Apparently I herniated my lower 2 discs again. Thankfully the symptoms are lessening and I might not have to have surgery. Stay tuned though, I may need to start a blog for myself! If the weakness in my leg hasn't improved enough, I may need to have surgery the middle of the next week. Fun times here in southern Maryland.
Did I mention before (in a previous post) how thankful I am that my sister lives in DC? It is 7 miles to Walter Reed and about 6 miles to Bethesda from Kelly's apartment. It could not be more convenient. Thanks again, Kel for letting us stay there. Also thanks for not charging us rent, but I'll understand if you start! :>
Tomorrow we'll go to church and prepare for next week. I'm planning the whole week for the kids' school, just in case I have surgery. It's good to have some time to plan.
That's it for tonight. I'll update after the appointment sometime Monday night.
