The past two nights Olivia has been sleeping a lot better. Monday night she only woke up when she needed to be repositioned. Last night she slept until 5:30, and I gave her some pain medicine.
One of the things that we learned at the hospital is what Olivia looks like when she is experiencing pain. I noticed that besides being fussy and her facial expression, the way she holds her arms is a good indicator of her pain. That is what I noticed this morning -- her arms were drawn up, and she was fussy. Quantifying it with a number on the pain scale is somewhat difficult, but the one nurse she had requested that info whenever we asked for her pain medicine. I did my best, but I really don't know for sure. If I had to do it this morning, I would say her pain was a 5.
Mom went to Kelly's last night, and is flying home to PA tonight. I am glad she was able to come down. It was helpful to have her nursing experience as well as the "Granny" stuff too. Thanks for your help, Gran! (from Liv)
Our church is bringing meals twice a week through the end of May. It is very helpful and most appreciated. I think another big need we'll have is grocery shopping. I can't lift Olivia's wheelchair into the van, and right now, the pieces that connect to the lift are wrapped up so they don't scratch Olivia's foot when she sits in it. The cast has her sitting like a benched basketball player, waiting to get in the game and her feet rest on that part of the chair. I don't want to risk taking her to a place where her foot may get bumped and possibly injure her leg.
I will probably need a nap today. I don't want to sleep too long this morning since no one else will be here to get up with Jack & Robin. Hopefully it'll be an uneventful day!

Too funny, Shirley. I'm glad you wrote that on here. I would've overlooked that. I may write an entry about that!
